Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 This year, we have committed to an overarching goal to become an anti-racist, health-promoting college. This is a university commitment as well as a college commitment. Our emphasis is on supporting students as well as student success.
Goal #2 Our goal is to provide stronger and more substantive support to our students. The pandemic highlighted the different level of needs our candidates have. We are working to identify those needs, and ways to meet them. For example, this past year has shown us that dependable access to technology is a crucial for our students. As a university, we have worked to supply our students with the technology and access (Chromebooks, wifi support, Zoom accounts). We hope to continue to identify and provide this level of support.
Goal #3 This past year has renewed our commitment to working closely with our partner schools and organizations to provide field experience opportunities that benefit the candidate and the school. Meaningful communication and consistent check-ins are crucial to strengthening our partnerships as we move forward in a current and post-pandemic setting.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 We are working to better align prepracticum with our programs and have created courses that focus on this . We are working closely with our partner schools to integrate students' preprac experiences to meet their student needs
Goal #2 We are working to strengthen our partnerships with schools. We have increased our responsiveness our partner's needs during the pandemic. We continue to focus on quality partnerships.
Goal #3 We are working to more strongly align SMKs with coursework needed to prepare students for the license, identifying courses that address these SMKs and offering support in areas that need attention.

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 We have developed a common assessment for Disposition in the Teacher Preparation programs and will be implementing them across all programs for the coming semesters. There will be three (3) points in the programs when students are assessed: 1. After the first field experience semester; 2.Before the prepracticum semester; 3. Before the practicum semester. At each point, there will be options for students to improve, or if necessary, change programs.
Goal #2 We are in the process of introducing a 4+1 pathway to licensure for our undergraduate students. This pathway will benefit students who are interested in teaching, yet may not have enough room in their undergraduate program due to additinal major, minor, or programs of study. This pathway will also better accommodate the large numbers of students who transfer in to UMass Boston.
Goal #3 We are developing deeper and stronger relationships with partner schools so that we may be able to provide more consistent and high quality services to students enrolled in them. In keeping with our urban mission, we are working to support the success of these PK-12 pupils from PK to college.
