Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Further enliven Advisory Group (4 meetings a year), support cooperating K12 teachers within new CAP, support licensure needs such as SEI, mentoring and induction.
Goal #2 Continue to develop ways to attract/retain a diverse student pool by expanding efforts to recruit and through innovative K12 partnership programs such as our current Teach Fellows program.
Goal #3 Integrate PSTs and CAP into courses/experiences and ensure college and K12 faculty are oriented and implementing.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Align program with new Professional Standards for Teachers (PST) as well as impending SMK and TPA expectations. Action/Implementation plans will be developed.
Goal #2 Additional MTEL supports to increase participation and passing rates.
Goal #3 Increase diversity of teacher candidates including under-represented populations and STEM fields.

Progress Toward Goals - 2015
Goal #1 The Education Department has aligned our program with new PSTs and enacted action plan in concert with ESE roll out of CAP.
Goal #2 Increased to 12 hours MTEL support/prep. for C/L, Foundations and Math content. Deep data analysis of patterns and trends, as well as required sequencing of MTEL is occurring at departmental level.
Goal #3 Established a diversity recruitment/retention plan and advisory, including partnership program with Pittsfield Schools. Participated in SCOPE network analysis and planning. Reached out to new student populations through clubs/advisors.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Reorganize teacher licensure programs to create benchmarks for entry into the various stages of the licensure programs.
Goal #2 Improve advising procedures through faculty training and further work with Arts and Sciences faculty.
Goal #3 Phase in revised standards and requirements for entry into the phases of the teacher licensure programs

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Benchmark documents were created and have been used throughout the advising process. The Education faculty and committees continue to revisit and refine processes and documents in order to prepare high quality candidates.
Goal #2 Outreach between Education and Arts and Sciences faculty has occurred throughout the year to support advising, development of ongoing professional development and content courses, and understanding of on-going changes to PSTs, SMKs, and TPA.
Goal #3 This goal is ongoing and will be linked to proposed goal #1 for the coming year that will include participation in ESE NIET alignment working groups and action plans that will be submitted in July 2015.
